Pictures of me getting older

Douglas "Badger" Barnhart

I work full time at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in the New Media department.  The division that I'm in charge of is the Extended Campus, which works with students learning online, and at over 130  learning centers throughout the world.  I've been at ERAU for just over three years.  Prior to that I had my own business for 20 years.  I've been in just about every aspect of the computer industry.  I started back before there were even personal computers, and long long before there was an Internet.

I'm an avid collector of DVD movies.  I have over 400 so far.  If I'm not playing or working on my computer, I am soaking in some entertainment on my home theater system.  It is one of my pride an joys.  I have a 54" wide screen HDTV with a Sony, Infiniti, and Bose surround sound system.  That, some hot buttered popcorn and my cat Leica are a wonderful evenings diversion.

I am currently 49 years old, and am turning 50 in September.  I do have some health issues. I'm an insulin dependent diabetic. I also have painful diabetic neuropathy(PDN) in both legs. I can get around okay, but I can't walk for long distances.  Eventually I'll need a wheelchair to get around. Although I have health issues, I keep a very positive outlook on life, and tend to find the humor in my situation rather than dwell on the negative issues.

I have extensive experience with most software tools used on the Net, such as, all of the Adobe programs, all of the Corel line, all of the Microsoft line, all of the Ulead programs, ray tracing software like, Caligari's TrueSpace, 3D Studio Max, Bryce, Rhino, and Imagine. I am fluent in almost all of the database programming software, and even the ISP level of Linux, Unix, Solaris, Apache, and anything else required to set up and maintain a point of presence on the Net. My position of Animated Gif Artists Guild co-founder, has required me to evaluate, review, and use virtually every software program used in the creation and compilation of gif animations. Heck, I don't think there are many programs that are used on the Net, that I don't have! It is just the cry of my hard drive being continually bombarded with new programs that is distracting sometimes :)

I own the copyright to several industry-specific software programs, that include self-storage, mobile home park management, and cremation services. Some of the other accolades that I feel good about are over 112 awards for design and concept of Virtual Reality Mall, Winning first place in VRML modeling for Yahoo 3D, and designing a race car chassis engineering program that won the 1989 "Racing Product of the Year" award at the Indianapolis 500 Trade Show.
